Yoga Concepts / Bikram's Yoga College of India was established in Cranston, Rhode Island in 1985 and offers "Bikram's Hatha Yoga System."  Yoga Concepts was the first Bikram Method School established in the Northeast.  Bikram's Yoga is a physical fitness approach and a condensed form of the original classical Hatha Yoga series offering some 5,000 years of knowledge and intelligence.  The Bikram Method of Hatha Yoga is a 90-minute, comprehensive program.  Bikram's technique is specifically tailored for modern lifestyle conditions of stress, overeating, poor posture and aggressive lifestyle.  Bikram scientifically designed and choreographed his 26-posture sequence which goes through the whole body, relieving stress; balancing and strengthening the glands, organs, circulation, digestion, and nervous systems; rejuvenating tissue; reshaping muscles, tendons, and weight; while building willpower, self-control, and patience.  This class not only conditions the body and mind; it helps to rehabilitate all kinds of injuries.

The classes are conducted safely in a room heated to body temperature in order to increase blood flow, prevent injury and eliminate toxins.

Start achieving your fitness goals today by investigating Bikram's Yoga Method.

ABOUT BIKRAM CHOUDHURY
The founder of Bikram Yoga, Bikram Choudhury, has been practicing Yoga since he was five years old.  Born in Calcutta, India, he began studying with Bishnu Ghosh, one of the greatest physical culturists of our time and founder of the Ghosh's College of Physical Culture in India, which gained him international recognition.  He was the brother of Paramahansa Yogananda, founder of the Self-Realization Fellowship in Los Angeles.

At the age of twelve, Bikram became the youngest contestant ever to win the National India Yoga Competition.  Winner of the competition three years consecutively, in his fourth year he was asked to withdraw from the competition and give a demonstration instead to allow others to compete.  In less than 30 minutes, Bikram executed over 500 postures to physical perfection, Swami Shivananda declared him, "Yogi Raj" (King of the Yogis) and "the best Yogi of the twentieth century."  Bikram is Ghosh's primary U.S. disciple.
